Right then, folks, the future’s arrived – or at least, the first wave of it. Chinese robotics outfit EngineAI has just started shipping its inaugural batch of T800 humanoid robots. Yes, you heard that right: T800. A name choice that’s surely just a delightful little coincidence, eh? These general-purpose bots, standing at a rather respectable 5ft 8in, are now trundling off the production lines in Zhengzhou. Ostensibly, they’re here to lend a hand with the washing-up and other assorted domestic drudgery. But let’s be absolutely clear: they’re definitely not here to start quizzing us about anyone named Sarah Connor. Not yet, anyway. Keep an eye on your kettle, just in case.
