Just when you thought bipedal robots couldn’t get any more, shall we say, existentially intriguing, LimX Dynamics decided to strap a full-blown dinosaur costume onto its TRON1. Because, apparently, merely building a sophisticated humanoid wasn’t quite enough; it needed that extra dash of prehistoric menace to truly capture our collective imagination – or perhaps, our nightmares.
Yes, you read that right. The very same TRON1, a marvel of modern engineering presumably designed for tasks slightly less dramatic than stalking unsuspecting park guests, has been unleashed in full reptilian regalia. Forget the gentle whirring of servos; we’re now a terrifyingly short hop, skip, and a jump away from a real-life Jurassic Park, only this time the apex predators come with firmware updates and, one hopes, a much more rigorous safety protocol than InGen ever bothered with.
The upside? Fewer immediate ethical dilemmas than, say, resurrecting actual dinosaurs from amber-encased mosquitoes. The downside? We’re now left to ponder whether our future robot overlords will demand a T-Rex ensemble for their public appearances. One can only hope that ‘do not eat the CEO’ is a pre-installed subroutine. Hopefully. Probably. We’ll get back to you on that.
