Meet the Phantom MK1: a new recruit from the US-based firm Foundation and allegedly the first humanoid robot designed from the ground up for the battlefield. At a cool $150,000 (roughly £115,000) a pop, it’s clad in ballistic armour and a thermal-masking stealth skin, capable of lugging 20kg of kit. Word on the wire is that two units are already being put through their paces on the front lines in Ukraine. It seems the future of modern warfare is trading in boots on the ground for eye-wateringly expensive, heavily armed Action Men.
