Unitree Robotics has apparently decided its H1 humanoid needs a career pivot as a “Kung Fu Legend Guardian,” and the audition process involves getting hit by a car. In its latest, highly dramatised demo, the bot shoves a child-sized mannequin to safety before taking the full force of a collision. It’s a bit of a Hollywood stunt reel, really—complete with the robot plummeting from a four-metre platform just to prove it won’t shatter. It seems the future of personal security requires your mechanical bodyguard to double as a high-stakes stunt performer.
